My missus is doing a 10k race next weekend; her and a friend started 8 weeks ago having never run and now they're regularly running 15-20km in an evening. They're running 3/4 nights a week and currently running 10minute/km on a seriously hilly route; I've been surprised by how quickly their stamina and distance running has come one given that they struggled to do 1500m in under an hour when they started!!

if they can manage that much then they should nbot be fannying around with 10ks 10min km however is exceptionally slow (6kmph) unless it is genuinely running up hills constantly

but yep, if you stick at it then it comes very quickly

very hilly, steep sided valley. They were much quicker on treadmills but we live on the side of a very, very steep valley and the 10km course is up and down the valley three times - They're doing the 10k because its a Charity race for local community causes; they've then got a half marathon booked for March in Leamington Spa.

Gonna hit up Brewdog in Camden saturday afternoon before we head over to Queens of the Stoneage gig. Sunday, not sure. Ale festival on at the White Horse but if you have any good suggestions for places a bit more central they would be greatly received.

Good luck with the lady friend on Sunday.
