Okay random thread title but don't judge yet!

I'm finally going to be moving out next year and my mum's been single for many years. She's a very shy person... has looked into dating sites etc. before but she comes away not actually bothering. Firstly because she's not great at using the computer, but secondly because it costs money!

So, I thinking for the next 6 months or so I'm here I'm gonna help her, and want to get her a 12 month subscription to a dating site for Christmas! Sounds weird I know, but then there's no excuses whilst I'm sure no one here has used one for their own usage lol... does anyone know a good website for this!? Like maybe their own parent has used one etc.

A lot of the older guys at work have spoken about using it, with good success. The only thing that would bother me, is what if she meets a right weirdo and u have funded it for her...

What's so wrong with her own company?

Why is she doing this? Is she incapable of being in the house on her own?

Surely a local social club would be a safer bet?

I think you are on to something as such here... plenty of older people meet through their love of something, be it a sport, a hobby or just a social event. They also say that people meet when they least expect too.

I love my mum to bits but she's lazy and won't bother looking herself! She does go to a book club but it's all women lol...

I just feel she's going to be a crazy cat woman when I leave her alone next year. Sometimes people need that little push to start with imo.

This sounds very weird to me. You say your Mum is shy, I doubt she is looking for the type of thing internet dating would bring up.

Also many of the replies above are disgusting. It is his Mum!
