I've had a horrible rattle for the past 20k. Not had the time to root through the car to find out where it is coming from.

Put in vPower this afternoon after reading the thread about different diesels.

The rattle has gone! Can someone explain?

If you were that bothered, you'd have investigated it 19,500 miles ago!

Surely the car has been serviced or at least had an oil change in 20k? You could of asked whoever carried it out to have a look.

If you haven't done any maintenance in 20k then I wouldn't be surprised it's making strange noises

I'm only bothered about it blowing up as it's used every day.

I'm skint at the moment if it dies.

Some manufactures actually say you should service a car every 20k

Personally think it's aload of bull. I service mine every 10k. But it's not uncommon for people to get it done every 20

Manufacturers, who have to honour the warranty after telling you to service every 20k miles, won't have made sure the car could run for much longer than this with no problems. Better get it done every 10k to be safe.

mine gets serviced once a year so approximately once every 25,000 miles and its done 175k now, albeit I do have anything fixed which breaks at the first opportunity, wheel bearings etc. I'm planning on running it into the ground rather than selling it so I'm not too fussed about a perfect service history.

It also only ever gets fuelled at supermarkets.

Supermarket fuel and 25k service intervals, do you realise you are driving about in a funny smelling death trap?

And pray tell why its a death trap?

it also doesn't use a drop of oil between services - It gets checked every other week and not once in nearly 4 years have I had to put any oil in at all.

Sure it wasn't diesel knock?

I filled up at a local shitty garage few months ago and car was running rough on idle. Was getting better with each tank of fuel I put in there after and now normal again.

I thought about quoting it, then realised it probably won't get a reply so never bothered.
