I need a 2nd S/PDIF to run from my ps3 to my Astro headset amp, just wondering if a cheapy will do the same job as a 20 quid one same sorta rule as HDMI cables?

As a non-expert, I would say so, it's either on or off same as HDMI isn't it?
(I await John or Balling correcting me)
Quick google - "Just so ya know,
"00001101001010100011100011010" on a higher quality cable
Sounds exactly like
"00001101001010100011100011010" on a lower quality cable.
Its digital baby "
I'm assuming optical

Is it optical or coax? But yes. Cheap will do fine.

As long as the cable looks reasonable (solid connectors etc) and it's not using 'bell wire' for the cabling, then go for it

Yup for the audio virtually any cable will do. You Poundland special will do just as good as your Richersounds £50 effort
(Although to be fair to Richer Sounds the sets they had hanging up in store were actually not too badly priced for shop prices)

This. I've had a few optical cables come apart due to poor materials, so it's possible to go too cheap.
But no, don't get a £50 cable either.

The ends came off my optical cables when I was fishing them down the wall, took quite a bit of force pulling through though. Just slid them back on. It's just a bit of fibre with the toslink (or other) end slid on and crimped.
