Hi guys and gals,
I have just got my hands on a X16XEL head, and I will be fitting it to my x14xe as I have a feeling my head gasket is on it's way, as I have to gurgling sound from behind my dashboard....
I have some simlpe question to those that has done this in the past, so I hope you can help me out I of course have been looking through old threads, but don't seem to have had my Q's answered, if I have missed them, I hope you bear with me
1:
I have a donor car (corsa b 1.4 16v sport). And I tried to remove head from that one for practice, but I hit a little snag when trying to remove the lower cam belt cover. I removed 2 or 3 torx head screws from it, and found it clipped on at the backside of engine, but the lower part I couldn't get to release, are there any bolts lower down, or will I have to get access from under the car?
2:
Have read I will have to use my old x14xe lower inlet manifold, would you advice me to grind the ports so they match up to the "triangular" shaped inlet holes of the head?
3:
When fitting new timing belt, I usually read I will need a special tool for the water pump, is that correct? If so could somebody tell me what kind of tool that is, and maybe link to one?
4:
I'm thinking of overhauling my X16XEL are there any special ways of approaching that?
I thought about starting with degreasing it, remove cam-"holders/bridges", assuming the cam just lifts out then.
But what about the valves, do I need a special tool for them, and what about the valve lifters between valve and cam? How do I remove that?
When refitting, I'll be cleaning all the valves, and grinding them by hand. But do the lifters need a special lubricant (engine oil?) when refitting, and or special tool?
Do I smear some graphite grease on the cam lobes?
I know that's a lot of questions guys, but hope you can help me out.
Cheers
