Need some help here.
Wanted to stay clear of h.i.d's as i find them a bit chavvy, but tried 2 or 3 different kinds of bulbs in my car and none are bright (2004 corsa with projector headlights)
I'm gonna order a h.i.d kit for it this week, I know I need h7's but unsure what K to get?
I see them as low as 3500k up to 20000k
I want them bright and clear as I do a lot of driving in the dark, early mornings/late nights
Whats the best to get? I dont want the headlights like blue strobe lights.

Between 4000-6000k would be the range I'd suggest...

The mini came stanfard with 4300k I think and they were fine.

Found some 6000K with 35w bulbs
Will that be alright?

I think the higher you ho the more blue they get. I put 6000 in the mini when my old ones blew and they were brighter and more crisp looking.

4300k is stock. 5000k is ok too.
Anything else is just blue or purple and will look ghey/Halfords/Bhangra

5000k will be bright white, my personal favorite. 6000k starts to have a slight blue tint ..... anything higher is gash IMO

I've got 5k ones in my corsa c atm, they are nice and white without the blue tint to them IMO

Is MJ still selling the kits in classifieds? I had a set from him, really good quality. Passed mot's etc as wasnt too blue and was a good beam pattern

You can't, the blue light is absorbed by water and that's verging on purple.

Are the 55w hid's the ones with the big ballasts? I had to get 35w slimline ones so I could pack everything inside the headlamp housing.
I then had strobe lighting/bulb out issues and needed canbus cancellers. Been perfect ever since.
I hate my 6000k bulbs, they looked so chavvy. I can only imagine 8000k is truly terrible.

6000k is the highest i'd go.
slight blue tint but almost white
pure white is 5500k i think

If you want a blue tinge, fit proper projectors to utilise the bulbs correctly and the cutoff will display the correct "xenon" hue.
Trying to make your lights look xenon but putting HIDs in halogen reflector bowls and specifying a bluer colour temperature just looks shit. Its like brake caliper covers.

I've had hids on my halogen headlamps in the past but wouldn't do it anymore. Looks terrible. Projectors make it slightly better but they are still designed for halogen.

They illuminate the immediate foreground slightly brighter, but you lose distance. The bowls for halogen and Xenon are designed to be completely different for a reason. You get width with Xenon, range with halogen. You cant marry the two successfully.

I have H.I.D's in my Vectra and they are pretty shite. Factory fitted too.
Need to get them reset and set up properly i think.
