I drive a Lexus CT200h as a company car and just bought a house so couldn't afford a car. Today Ive been offered a new job which will provide me a car allowance.

I need something I can use daily but I want it to be 2 seater, suitable for daily use and around £10k budget, I had historically been thinking vx220 turbo as I need something fun.

Any recommendations

Vx220 turbo would be an awful daily imo. I wanted one, then realised how much hard work it'd be in winter.

My Z4 is pretty much a perfect daily roadster. Quite economical for a 3.0, cheap replacement parts as it shares a lot with the 3 series and has all the modern bits you a nt in a daily.

The fact i've owned it 2 and a half years says it all. I love driving it, even if it does sometimes give me grief.

Porsche boxster is another one, or s2000.

I didn't know all Z4's cost 4k?

Do you not realise they sold them for more than just one year? Can get a nice facelift 3.0si 265bhp for under 10k and have some cash left for mods.

Just had a quick search for slk55 amg's but they're still quite highly priced.

Could get a Z4M is you're lucky. They're pretty mental by all accounts.

I agree john, but he wants a 2 seater.

Boxsters are supposed to handle the nuts. Personally not massively keen on the styling, but that's completely subjective.

986 or 987 Boxster S - mechanical grip and torque is what you want in a sports car

Vx220 will be fine as a daily depending on milage. If it's very cold or wet you just need to leave 10 mins early to allow it to dry out / de mist before you drive off

Failing that you can't go wrong with s Boxter

vx is fine for a daily car, as long as you can deal without the creature comforts such as aircon, climate control, electric windows, central locking (2.2's) crappy heaters, heated seats, power steering, non leaky window seals etc..

the car is really a summer car tbh, i have run mine for 7 years all the way through winter without problems.
