So, sold the Coupe and bought a stick o dynamite. Wanted 1 for years but never had the balls to buy 1.

Have to say, I'm very impressed so far. Feels refined and comfy, yet when you press on it tackles corners extremely well. Sounds ace with the Toyosport too.

Nice looking cars, always wanted one myself.

Suicide doors, rwd, bucket seats, cool engine. What more could you want? Pretty cheap aswell.

So many horror stories online, but I guess you get the scaremongering weirdo's wherever you go nowadays. The volvo thread is a great example

Yeah Jason Plato done a review on Fifth Gear on budget sports cars too and choose the RX8 over a Boxster S and Z4. Probably just due to the price difference mostly.

I think the scaremongering with these is true stories. It checks out fine though starts good hot or cold and dosnt behave like 1 with problems. Guy I got it from was thorough on how he's looked after it etc so I'll just stick to that and hope for the best.

The cheap engines are paper weights. Even a 2nd hand supposedly good non rebuilt motor your up at the bag of sand figure.

3rd Generation MX5 does look like a mini version. Mazda must have copied the styling etc and used it on the MX5.

190 or 230?

They look good with the Prodrive alloys.

It's a 190.

A lot of kit as standard not much come close for the money, but they aren't without there flaws sadly. Everything seems to resemble a rotor. Gear knob, seat adjusters, bonnet, holes in top of seats etc.

They like a rotor or two then?

Is it covered in surface rust underneath?

I had to do a column repair on an 03 plate one of these about five years ago and the entire underside looked like a thirty year old car that had been parked in the sea for a few weeks.

I've seen quite a few Mazda 3's, 6's that are quite badly rusting on tailgates and only 2-5 years old.

I've not really been under it properly yet but the bodywork is very clean. They tend to rust around the 3rd brake light but this hasn't, but does have a tiny paint bubble on the lower edge of the boot lid and that's it.

Yep, unfortunately they are cheap for a reason

The 190's are cheap as chips especially if they are 06 or newer because not only do they do about 3mpg and couldn't pull the skin of a rice-pudding they are also in some insanely high tax group.

It goes not too bad tbh. Price wise, there isn't much difference, if any between the 2, it's mostly down to the car/engine condition. I've seen cheaper like for like 231's. Wouldn't even consider an 06 onwards car due to the tax.

This popped up locally so went for it. If I was in the market for an Rx8 I would have considered both but the 190 suited my needs slightly more. Cloth seats, slightly more torque for town driving. Would have been nice to have Xenons though.
