Bit of a weird one this.

Was comprehensively trashed, in London, on Saturday evening and as such, the memory of a slightly odd encounter with a young woman was erased from my mind completely until she texted me on Tuesday, making my brain wake up and acquire a partial recollection of the incident.

Any of you good CS folk heard anything recently about any dodgy stuff going on with mobile phone scamming of this nature? I.e. getting charged £20 for texting back to a number, or similar, or worse?

I'm a healthy sceptic as well as an ugly c*nt. And it was she who approached me, so I trust her about as far as I could throw her.

I remember being very guarded and quite suspicious of her, but that is all I can recall.

She might just have been flogging something and on commission.

But i'm assuming she's either a honey trap resulting in a ten Somalian arse kicking, or she's the governor of thirty Nigerians in an office somewhere with a pile of disposable phones and a list of drunk blokes phone numbers.

I haven't phoned the number and wasn't intending to, but wondered if texting it could potentially cause scam based grief.

No hits on google, either for her number, or the scenario of what went on.

Alex - I'm just a realist mate and a healthy sceptic (especially considering all the dodgy shit that goes on these days). Birds don't usually approach me. It's VERY unusual. But if they do, it's ALWAYS when i'm paralytic. And i'm not exactly David Niven when i've had a skin-full.

If she's legit, I think she's just some altruistic person trying to assist a fellow concert goer.

Turns out she was at the same gig as me last week, couldn't get a ticket, but found a great spot with views of one of the big screens and with reasonable sound. She's going again this week and was basically offering to help.

...allegedly.







I'll probably end up murdered for my Oyster card this evening.
