Hi so after making threads and test drives regarding Golf GTI's, Fiesta ST's & that dodgy Integra Type-R I kind of finally decided on a nice Mini Cooper S I test drove. Said I'd have it, but didn't place a deposit.
Since then another's come up which is newer with less miles so going to look at that one before I fully commit, and there's a Civic Type-R just 30 minutes away for sale too so though I'd check them both out.
Both totally standard, same year and almost the same miles. What would you go for and let me know if you have experience of driving both!

Type R just for the fact I can't fit in any mini without sacrificing my leg comfort

I quite like the Mini's to be fair, especially the John Cooper Special.

I'm 31, but don't think I'll ever grow out of hot hatches!
If it wasn't obvious... EP3 & R53, both facelift (2005)

I only ask because a mini is a terribly small car. I couldn't survive life with only a mini as my car. perhaps if I was 19-20 years old again.

Definitely a mini..
I'm not a fan of both but most people will look at a Type R and instantly assume you're a Skinny Hipster Prick that likes to do burn-outs.

Megane 225, not the most reliable or best looking car on the road (by far) but they are brilliant to drive.

What on earth has the size of a car got to do with your age?

My brother has a Type-R, never experienced one before that and never thought much of them but it's awesome, certainly quick enough, great driving position and handle pretty well
Never been in a Mini but not a fan of them.

Just speaking from personal experience from owning a 2005 R53 Cooper S, I'd definitely have another one again! Mine had a cat back exhaust, Dave F Airbox and 15% pulley and it made a hell of a difference over the standard power. Handled like a go-kart, quick in a straight line, and the supercharger sounds awesome! Only downsides being that it's not very practical for passengers in the back, or anything of any size to put in the boot

Standard airbox with a k and n in it, I made my own for mine
Makes fuck all difference regardless what the internet scene kids say, but it does give a nicer sound and louder whine

So it's someone putting a filter into a box and calling it a Dave f air box? Genuine internet lol.

Every site / forum / group has an 'insert user name' box.
TT's have a 'WAK box' which is just a drilled airbox as well.

Agreed. That's about as random as suggesting there's an age limit to owning a specific brand of car.
