Firstly this post excludes indicators as I know they will need to be put somewhere as I don't like the morrette indicators on the bumper, I'm purely talking about the main beam and sidelights here.
My question - Are morettes a straight swap like Depo's (is it just a case of taking the depos/standard lights out and then putting the morretts in and then swapping the bulbs) or is there wiring involved?
Also, assuming outer lense is for main beam and inner lense is for sidelights, how legal would it be to not have sidelights so you can only have the outer lense?
Any help or photos of the morretts from behind would be appreciated

Only ever had morettes on my 106 GTi
Assume they will be similar, they came with a wiring harness that just plugs into the car loom. Plug and play.
As for sidelights. I think the other is for dipped beam and sidelights. And the inner is main beam. I may be wrong there though.

Just had a look on eBay and a completed listing has some of the info I needed, from that ad looks like the outer lense has space for the sidelights and dipped beam and they have air ducts in the inner lense.
In the ad though no mention of any wiring harness, in fact he specially said no wiring needed which is the part I'm unsure of as lots of people said there is?

With mine, I had everything in the outer lamp using the existing wiring harness.
Indicators can quite easily be modified into the inner lamp. You will need to drill the reflector a little accommodate the larger bulb but otherwise easy.
Always found Morette headlights on the Corsa difficult to setup for MOT. Switched back to factory headlights for MOT in the end each year.

I'm not sure how detailed the pics are in my thread but have a look.
The inners are high beam. Side lights are in the outer lenses.
My indicators are standard morette ones behind the grille. Work fine and caused the least amount of hassle as an alternative option.

So you just put all the normal plugs that you'd put into the back of standard headlights into the back of the morretts and they worked? That's pretty much my main question not to bothered about indicators or MOT at this stage as they can be swapped as you said

Cheers, had a quick looks like the idea with the indicators but as I replied to elis same question really did you just put the plugs in the back of the lights like you would with standard lights or was any wiring/bulbs needed to be changed?

Just as you say Jason, that's what I did. Didn't bother with any of the loom with the Morettes.

Cheers, that's what I was wanting to know
Can you use the standard headlight adjuster motor?

Not totally sure about that one. I know with mine I adjusted headlight height manually. Didn't want to complicate installation.

Same, didn't need to change any loom. Plugs were all there.
I also didn't fit the motor, they can be manually adjusted with wing nuts on the light units.
I can try and get some pics if you need anything specific. u2u me.

Cheers for all the info, I don't use my sidelights either but if they are in the outer lense anyway of course I'll put them in.
And Cheers for that Haimsey, I'll let you if I need anything but should be fine now just need to find a set of morettes

Most new cars don't have a choice. Dipped beam off = drl's on.

Front only though then Ben.
My sidelights are always on, just a habit putting them on. Even in daytime.

I don't care about people behind me. If they hit me, it's their fault.
Obviously this doesn't count in adverse weather. But then you wouldn't have sidelights only then.
