Has anyone used Textar E-pads? Are they worth the extra over normal Pagid's/Textar's?

They seem to have Internet approval, but is that just because of the low dust or because they're actually decent pads?

My brakes are rather low and I now have a warning light on the dash, so need changing soon.

Also, what benefits do drilled and grooved / dimpled and grooved or drilled discs have over the standard vented stuff?

Any other brand from Pagid that I've ever used has always ended up in squeeling brakes which drive me fucking potty...

Dont do drilled, they holes can crack. Grooved is ok, but neither is going to make any difference to your daily commute to work

I do drive my car in an exuberant manner at weekends.

It's mostly for looks rather than anything performance related, though I don't want it to be detrimental to anything else e.g brake squeal or cracks.

Textar compounds tend to be better than Pagid, also, Textar are fitted as OE on your car I think Ben.

Not got any direct experience with the e-pad but the low dust is a bonus!

ATE are comparable to Textar / Pagid.

generally drilled is ok if you buy decent discs, i have had drilled and grooved discs on my car for years with number of trackdays etc and they have got HOT.. so hot infact they ended up being blue.. not cracked yet, but i have seen nice expensive porsche brakes and amg ones cracked to buggery..

What does an Internet driver do? I regularly drive through puddles, scrape on speedbumps and indicate even though I drive a BMW.

I was going to go for 'mtec' drilled discs tbh. Gav has the drilled and grooved versions but i'd prefer just drilled. Not sure what they're like but a lot of Z4 people have them on and have no issue's.

I have heard some rumours about ECP and Pagid road pads, that ECP bought the name and are dishing out cheap pads under a premium name. Not sure how true it is.

I have m tec groved on my suabru.

Just buy normal decent disks. M tec are no different to normal disks other than they make a stupid noise when you brake hard.

I would buy normal discs but normal discs don't have grooves or holes in them.

Of course I don't, but I WANT them. Just like I wanted a burgundy roof

I don't track this car. I just prefer the aesthetics of fancy looking discs.

But they also need to be practical and not fall apart. My daily commute is on a 70mph a-road going into London so high speed hard braking is a regular occurence.

Agreed, fantastic pads - used them on my old across which I drove hard, and also had them on the S2000 and didn't get them to fade on a track session at all.

Only problem is they're dusty as fuck!

Yeah they are dusty. But so worth it. Any pad which gets better and better with heat is a winner

I've had mtec discs on the Cupra for a few months now along with red stuff pads and I've driven the car hard a few times and all is still peachy. My pagid discs and pads I had previously fitted were fucked within a fortnight after the same amount of punishment.

Cheers Eck. If they can perform well on a big bhp cupra then i'm sure they'll suffice on mine.

I was looking at black Diamond stuff last night, but it works out at about £400 for discs and pads.

Black diamond is decent as well. Had them on my old AX GT yeeeeeeears ago and they stopped you on a penny. The ax only weighs 20 kilo wet right enough the golf R32 boys use the mtec discs as well.

I had mtec discs on my 586bhp corsa. Although I was more of an Internet driver, I found no problems when braking from nearly 180mph many times. Thanks for asking for my advice.

I am using MTEC stuff on my astra at the moment
has slightly more power than what nic is claiming his corsa has they are fine. no problems braking from 181mph

I run ECP, have done for a while. No squeaks and very responsive. Not over priced either.

I put Pagid on both my last Peugeots after reviews on here. Feel very budget and a little bit sticky. I don't think i will use again.
