Does anybody know what the maximum I would be able to withdraw from a cash machine is? I'm with First Direct and I'm guessing they vary from other banks as to how much you can withdraw? Just wondering if anyone else is with first direct and knows!

It's £500 with first direct,
Some cash machines will require you to
Do two seperate transactions, due to limitations of the machine

I think they've reduced it.. I'm with Halifax and for the last couple of months I've only been able to withdraw £250 which is a pain.

I've just googled it:
quote: Cash withdrawal limits. You can withdraw up to £500 a day from a cash machine from your Ultimate Reward Current Account, Reward Current Account, Current Account and Student Current Account. The limit for all other bank accounts, including the Current Account with Control, is £300.
Must be the cash point! I've got the old school free current accounts, looks like the paid banking customers can withdraw more.

If you need it higher, just phone up and they'll increase, with Natwest can withdraw £1000 from cash machine.

Can do with most banks.
Most people assume most they can withdraw is £250, that's for a lot of the older cash machines, they can physically only dispense £250. Put card back in and do another transaction.
My card lets me withdraw 1k a day

I would rather go to the bank if i'm going to need that amount. Far too many shady characters hang around atm's.
Ok £250 is a lot of money, but i'd be distraught if i lost a grand to some pikey mug with a Fisher price knife.

Yeah, I'm with you on that. I don't withdraw that much money, (maybe once or twice) only.
Worried about security just do it at few different cash machines, useful in an emergency, but most of time you can just use card anyway

If you are using a cashzone or dc payments cash machine (there are lots of these - most supermarket, shops, petrol and service stations) and you try to withdraw your limit in 2 separate transactions ... the machine will almost certainly capture your card and destroy it. Like wise if you try to withdraw the entire balance of your account in one go..... trust me.....I am the person you will speak to on the phone if this happens at a weekend!

You're correct. Bank of Scotland is now £500, as are Halifax.

Whenever I have needed more than £300 in one day I just get cashback from supermarkets but after 3 or 4 £50 cash backs they tend to block the card so be careful
Had to explain to the bank on the phone why I was buying fudges in different transactions one after the other

They did when I explained to him the story so I could get him to unblock the card
