So that saves draining the sump?

How does the hose get into the sump? Not knowing how an engine works but I thought it was semi-sealed around pistons and such like?!

The same way you measure the oil level Deano - you don't put it down the cylinder through the spark plug hole!

Would take about 25 minutes to drain a sump, might get one however for pumping purposes

Does it work the other way, can I pump oil into gearboxes / diffs etc

you can get large syringes with tubes for that

had to use one for filling my defender boxes

Yeah just put the outlet hose whereever you want the stuff going.

Not sure on the head but they do have some force on them, probably enough to get it up to a gearbox from underneath.
