Yeah, sorry, it's one of those...
Looking for suggestions, no idea what to get.
Don't care about fuel economy, insurance or running costs, I do about 200 miles a week
Go!

If you're going to part with 6-8k of your hard earned cash it might be worth having at least a vague idea of what you want?

Ok fair point.
So far I've looked at Clio 197s, Megane 225s and Audi S4s, was considering an E55 AMG Kompressor but they're a couple of grand too much
I literally have no idea, just want something which is either fun or makes some noise.
Midlife crisis time.

Megane 225 is a great car, un-reliable as a bastard but a great car..
E55 would get boring after 5 minutes.
What sort of cars do you lust after? Coupes, 4x4s, Supercars, convertibles?

I think the only thing the E55 is good for is monster burnouts, I'd do one or two then have a big heavy motorway car to do no miles in
I'm not really a 4x4 kind of guy, I like stuff which is quick but doesn't look it, unless it's a hot hatch. Anything which is a saloon/coupe/estate needs to be quick but look boring.

I'm gonna go right ahead and guess that you've never driven a Mercedes?
The ESP is like a little digital hitler, you'll be lucky if you can perform half a burn-out.

doesn't seem to struggle
Anyway, you're right, I'd get bored.
I've driven Mercs before, had a newer E class for a couple of months and it was fantastic.

Flawless. Point so well made. Although the drugs and women won't last as long as a car, the memories will last a lifetime..

Standard midlife crisis mobile. Motorcycle of some kind?
Doesn't have to be expensive, I find riding my 125 scooter much more of a hoot than my 600 bike.

Could you narrow it down to what type of car you want?
Big/small
FWD/RWD/AWD
Hatch/coupe/sedan/convertible
Two seats/boot
Petrol/diesel
So many options
