aint got much of a sound system as i am poor but have been offered a 300w lecacy amp for 30 quid is it worth it or are they a bollox make? and also any ideas on a sub which wont cost me an arm and a leg i.e under 100 cheers t

If your working off a budget then the legacy amp will be fine... to be honest most amps these days are pretty well made and will do the job so long as you think about what your doing...
keep things matched up nicely and you will be rewarded with a reasonable sound...
as for a sub first find out what RMS rating the amp is per channel... if it's a 2 channel bridge it(if possible), this will double the power to drive a more powerful sub.
lets say this is a 2 channel amp, the RMS for each channel will be 75 watts @ 4 ohms.
bridged this will be 150 watts @ 4 ohms.
so now you can go out and buy a 150 watt RMS sub... no more!!
get a 12" and stick with reasonble well know make, should be plenty out there for around £100

that is pretty much correct diggity, Fast Car mag have a 12 in entry level sub test thing month too.
