Copied from "Modern Engine Tuning" book..

1.6 Ecotec engine

Standard engine, 42mm throttle body (Old Weber 42 DCOE sidedraft carburator), standard exhaust manifold and pipe, programmable ecu, standard camshafts timing changed.
152hp@ 7000rpm 168Nm @ 6000rpm

Velos plenum + unichip £1100
Has 43mm diameter inlets, 147bhp@6967rpm on mine with de-cat.
Power hasn't peaked either!
Waiting for me rev limit to be raised again!

ra that's alot of power.

i'm thinking of getting a 1.6 put in mine when the engine gives up the ghost.

wahts a velos plenum?

is that like a mantzel power box?

i believe the velos torque tube (plenum is another version of the manztel powerbox

well the 1.6 was De-Tuned from what it was designed to do

Yes, when Vauxhall were designing the engine, it turned out to be very efficient, and was pumping out around 150bhp stock. Vauxhall realised that this would overshadow their precious 20XE engine (Red-Top) and decided to stick a very complicated inlet manifold on, to restrict power. Much gains can be made by changing to an aftermarket manifold from Velos,Lexmaul or Mantzel.
