HI I HAVE A 94 CORSA GSI SOME TIMES WHEN I DRIVE DOWN THE ROAD OR EVEN WHEN I START IT UP THE REV COUNTER GAUGE STICKS BETWEEN 1 THOUSAND AND 2 THOUSAND RPM IVE HAD IT ON THE ROALING ROAD THEY SAID TAKE THE INDUCTION KIT OF THAT MIGHT HELP AND ID DID FOR A BIT BUT ITS BACK DOING IT AGAIN EVEN WITH THE STANDARD PANEL FILTER ON WHAT CAN I DO ?

ure not talking about faulty gauge then, u r talking about flat spots yeah? reset the ECU without the induction kit see if that helps

not the induction kit sorry, reset the ECU with the std airbox on

HOW DO I RESET THE ECU ?
WHAT SIDE EFECTS DOES RESETING THE ECU HAVE ?

dissconnect the battery for as long as possible then re-connect.

start car up but don't put any revs on.

leave battery off for at least two - three hours

I think you dissconnect the battery pull out the ECU fuse from the fuse box,wait a minute then reconnect the battery and put the fuse back in.

Throttle position sensor is sticking,fid the sensor on the throttle body take it off claen it with carb cleaner, re grease it with KY jelly that should fix the problem.
Resetting the ecu is a mith.

yer re-setting the ecu wont fix ur problem, tryed that 1 a few times to no success

how do u get to the throttal bodie on a 1.6 gsi, i have the same problem

If its idling at 1500rpm, thats fine, its just the engine idles higher when cold, until it warms up a bit. If the needle is sticking, you may have faulty clocks. Replace with new ones or get from scrappys. This MIGHT be the problem.

Can you feel the car idling high when at 1500rpm? As said sounds like a possible Idle control valve which needs a good clean/oil.
