Hi, im insured fully comp in ma own name with liv vic, declared my modds, but they said as long as they dont enchance performance they dont need to know exactly what they are.(as the mods arent covered, if im involved in an accident my car will be repaired to std spec) What happens if u get pulled by the pigs and they ask to see if ure modds are declared?(this has happened to a few mates, one didnt have mods declared or covered, and he got a fine) As my insurance documents dont mention mods anywhere?

im with liverpool victoria, and mine insurance went up £36 with body kit , alloys, suspensin, zorst, i had document through saying that these were on the car and been declared. therefor im guesing that if i smshed it up, my alloys would gte replace with what was on the car at the mo.
id ring them and make sure mate. they should atleats confirm it in wrighting that your car has been modded.

1. liverpool vic told me all my mods were insured provided if i claim i provide evidence it was actually on the car.
2. they said only engine mods that count are engine converisons.

they should replace like body kits, if u are insured with them and they are declared. thats why u pay more to insure a kitted car as it is worth more than the standard value.
threfor, i have a body kit, if i smash the bumper up, they should replace it with the same one. (i payed an extra £40 to have my kit insured on the car)

Not realy, most companies just see the car as more likely to get robbed or damaged if its got a kit on, hence a higher premium.

Tesco wont cover me for any mods for some reason. Just got some 17s, rang them up. They told me they wont cover modifications. Now in the process of finding a different company!

mmm, i think ill phone them on monday then, as when i phoned they said only modds that they need 2 know about are engine ones. Cos i said ive got bumpers, spoiler, lowered etc etc, but they said as long as the performance isnt enchanced, they arent bothered, as all parts will be replaced as std
They did mention having proof of modds (photos of them on the car, or receipts)

so if you get pulled by police just coz they feel like it they can MAKE you open your bonnet and see what u got then make sure you're covered for it?

If your bonnet was locked in some way they would need to obtain a warrant to unlock it if you refused haha I heard that applies to your glove box and boot.

WRONG
Kris TD is correct, all modded items are covered if u have reciepts (you dont even need these)
I am with Liv Vic, i had a crash and they bought/fitted new bodykit bits and alloys etc... and NONE of it was even declared.

Furthermore, it raises the question of 'order of importance'. Most (sane) people first find/consider a car and then seek insurance quotes to decide whether it is a viable proposition. Buying a car, modding it and then bitching because no-one will insure you is bloody laughable.
