Going to a powerflow dealer 2moz. Getting rid of centre silencer for £40. Got a new Scorpion backbox so taking that with me for him to fit at the same time, if the price is reasonable. He said £20-£40 extra for putting the backbox on for me. Easy enough job to diy tho, i'm just lazy.

For a full stainless cat back pipe to your rage back box you are looking £100 for the pipe and £20 for fitting. Thats what my local garage charges everyone else, except me.

See mine aint a system, they're just puttin a pipe in place of the middle silencer, so i wouldnt have thought that would cost much, mainly labour cost. There's always ppl trying to rip you off tho. Try telling your powerflow that the one in Cov does it for £40, see wot they say?

Yeah, better. A system is a new backbox and pipe all the way down to the CAT (CAT-back system). Usually the new pipe doesnt have a centre silencer. This is better than wot i'm doing (new backbox n centre silencer removed), not sure why tho. Perhaps it's coz the new pipe u get with the system is a larger bore all the way down to the CAT.

So you would keep the cat with a system?

Normally, think if it's a CAT-back system you would. You can buy de-cat pipes tho, to get rid of the CAT.

Right just been to powerflow, they put my Scorpion backbox on for £30, but the real reason I went there was to get my centre silencer removed. They didn't do it tho, they put the backbox on and gave me a listen. They then insisted that removing the centre silencer on Vauxhalls creates a raspy sound and assured me I wouldn't like it. I finally agreed to drive about for a bit with the backbox and go back another time if I still wanted it removing.
Who has had their centre silencer removed, what sound difference does it make over just a back box, and do you like it more/less?

i went to topgear a while back just to see what the place was like and they gave me these quotes which i just listened to as i knew what they were going to say anyway
for a CAT replacement pipe on a corsa C they wanted 100 if it was permanent and 160 if i wanted a removable pipe for MOT's then they said another 120 for the cat back piping to my scorpion imola
so 280 in total but that was bit of a rough quote and well i think they assumed i didnt really know anything, i was thinking probs about another 40 quid less.
has anyone got any quotes from TOPGEAR in St Albans?

removing ur centre silencer gives u a raspy sound, getting a small silencer instead gives u a deep tone

if you want deep & not raspy then buy a full system instead of takin the cheap route by removing silencers
