Can you make money if companies wanna advertise on your website. I guess they would only wanna do that if you alot of hits with users. Do you think this site makes alot of money for example?

If people pay you to advertise on your web site then yes, it will make money. On that type of advertising, it depends whether they pay each time someone clicks on the banner, or whether they charge a fixed monthly fee.

It's quite difficult to make money over and above the costs of running a busy site...

If you can get people to pay for advertising, then that's the best money you'd make...

Also general adverts like you see on some sites don't make sod all money... only way is to sell space directly the companies for a fixed fee if you want any sort of income....

I would like to open an adult web site and charge people £1 a month for viewing pictures of ladies boobies.

used to own a site like that members to view pics, not any good now. You need full chat areas with live streaming cams etc to get any where close to making some cash
