last nite went for a nice drive from cardiff to brecon. Nice n scenic in places. Anyway the roads were really empty and straight in places so i tried a top speed. I got up to 110mph on a slight uphill. Gottas say i was suprised with this. Parkers says the max for my 1.4 16valve sport should be 112mph, but im sure on the flat mine would have reached more than that, seeing as i got nearly that uphill.

I have seen 130 indicated in a 1.6 16v astra 4 downhill

I also 122 in my 1400 corsa downhill

Its pretty easy to get higher speed than the manufacteurs spec, just find a hill and make sure your motor is light

PGTF, this would hint your car is so fast, you could find a road im sure, unless you require 300 miles of straight road to get your cars top speed.

hi, just the other week
i was on the A12 and i got 115MPH in 4th gear so i dont know what the top end is yet.

Ive had 145 in the sport and 212 out of the golf turbo, both were not flat out.

lol no chance, i've had it to 145 and it still had some left

138 is listed top speed, tested by auto-trader etc they come up with more like 145. Bare in mind mine is over 100k miles (best for VW's), and has a few mods.

145 @ 5500 rpm on way home last night, redlines at about 6500 so still some left in there, road got a bit bumpy so had to back off.
