Was just thinking this before, there really is no point of this, it's all down to personal opinion at the end of the day, Alpine and Kenny seem to be most popular, they have "better sound quality and better pre-outs" But IMO Sony are better cause of their looks and the quality isn't exactly crap either.
The others, i'm lost on them

ive got some clarion gear in my car(headunit, changer and DSP) but also have an Alpine screen with CD player. I voted Alpine as it generally is better quality when it comes to headunits and hardware of that kind. Things such as sound procesors etc. go for alpine. Speakers, kicker, rockford, FOCAL, loads more, amps, literally loads to choose from again.

as said before, each brand has high quality products at high prices...
each brand has different specs (quality, look, power, price...)
here my choices:
for the power (spl) : rockford fosgate.
for the look : audiobahn.
for the price : sony
for the quality : alpine, focal and audison.

what are u looking to buy? at the moment i have a kenwood H/U and sony 6x9s, but i dont like either of these as much as my old stuff which got nicked. i had a JVC HU which was class (current kenny HU skips all the time and radio reception isnt as good ) and kenwood 6x9s, much louder without distorting

Out of the above I have voted for Alpine. Don't think you have been specific enough though in your question as different companies are better at producing different types of ICE. Apline, I feel make the best head units, then as said above there are far too many makes to name best for amps and subs etc..
I have an Alpine CD/MP3 tuner head unit which I have just bought and can honestly say it is by far the best head unit I have owned. I have some Pioneer 17cm front speakers which cost me £100 which I thought was alot of money but am well happy with these, they can take so much power and handles it so well. My 6x9's are JBL GTO series and again they are very adequate. This is all I've got at the moment as all my ICE recently got stolen. The front and 6x9's are powered from the alpine unit at the moment and it is so loud and clear and the bass is excellent. Nearly as good as before when I had a crappy head unit, sub and amp.
Next week, I getting a 900w Alpine amplifier and a 10" JBL 1500w subwoofer. Should be kicking then

i have all pionneer audio stuff and they sound mint, my m8 has alpine and i think his are slightly better.
All thought the best audio equipment is Audiobahn, realy expensive thought but they are suppose to be amazing, (but there head units are made by alpine) so alpine are good

i would reccommend kenwood, get the 7 X 10'z they have a good base are different from most installs and r quite good, but if you want pure quality and not really bothered about price it would be best looking up audiobahn, they only do speaks and amps ( to my knowledge)

Alpine CDA9813RB or the CDA9812RB if u have a silver console
I have the 9812RB as does sumelse, as I remember discussing the tilt function n remote lol dun remember who tho
tbh, cavey is correct, it's pretty much down to personal preference, best be is to pop down to a audio gaff n play with as many hu's as you can, till you find one that you like the look of, sound of, and features of
