Agreed Gambit. I used to live in Langley (outside of Slough) which is quite near Heathrow Airport, I never got anything like that, planes fly overhead etc. every few minutes!

we had a landing gear flap fall off a plane about a month ago, landed 100m from my house, in the middle of road, this weren't a small piece of metal either, 5ft x 3ft made a hole in the ground and all these vans and investigators pulled up like a shot.........

Actually i remember a story in the paper once where an aircraft had dumped its load of human excrement before its landing and smashed through someones roof. Nice. But aviation fuel is released as a vapour from the wingtips, IF its absolutely neccesary, like the plane is too heavy for landing.

I thought it was released as vapour, and only done occasionally when they need to land alot earlier because of a problem somewhere

Correct, but environmental variables can form it into something else, I fully agree this person is talking bollocks.... but im saying... it is possible... but very unlikely and it would have to depend on a specific set of other circumstances, and this would only happen the once if ever.

They definately dont drop fuel. It aint cheap stuff so I dont think they'll just dump it because they have too much. My old man is the manager of an avaition refuelling company at the airport. I live 10 mins from heathrow and I park my car pretty much at the end of the runway when I go to work, I've never got any of those problems. If it was true, wouldnt you hear more people complaining.
