theyre annoying, we had some cack sharan in at work, and it had a clifford that kept rearming itself.......then going off........then being turned off....the self arming. No-one wanted to work on it so it was left for three weeks with the battery out, in pieces. ha!! teach it to re arm itself!

ive had problems with 2 clifford alarms, fitted through approved dealers. One failed and i had 2 grand of stereo equip stolen, the other, lights never flashed, ex prox sensor beeped at a leaf blowing past, the siren sounded more like a drunk trying to say more beer and when disarming, it used to auto rearm itself. Most of this is down to the fitters and rushing the job. Personally, this new magicar alarm looks the nuts, and has been given great ratings by Fast Car and others, all for only 500 quid.

I have had a few clifford alarms now, concept 300 on an escort, concept 100 on gsi, concept 500 on GT4, and another concept 300 on my 5, shit thats quite a few cliffords!
The 2 of the 3 that i had fitted, worked fine cos i new the installer both times and he did a TOP class job(saw him doin most of it) The others i have had a few probs with.
I definately think it is down to the guy that fits it.
So basicly go somewhere that someone you know reccomends.
I am a great fan of cliffords(when they work properly!)

magicar site is basic, but it gives you the general idea.
www.magicar.co.uk
it even pages you when someone is too close to the car, giving you the option to remote activate the alarm

A turbo timer is basicly a relay that is put in the ignition circuit and causes the car to run for a few mins after you have taken the key out.
With the clifford alarms you can arm the car with the engine running and walk off basicly. The car cannot be driven even though it is running, as soon as you take the handbrake off it cuts out.
Oh and if you were wondering the purpose of a turbo timer is to let the engine run for a bit to let the oil carry on circulating around the bearings in the turbo, so as they dont cease up.

They have to fit an extra module for the window roll up, think thus an exra £50, although it can be added at a later date.

oh yea, seen that magicar 1 before. website basic to say the least!! it seems ok, but i not too keen on it. it doesn't have a very long range between the transponder key and the car for the alerts i dont think. summing like a few hundred meters, and i'm not sure about through too many walls.
also, i want it to be thatchcam approved to reduce insurance
