yeah i could would have to crane the engine to make sure it was done properly, theres not alot of room in a GSI bay especially at the timing end.

i think it can be done no problem engine in situ.
Autovaux sell a cam belt kit which has new rollers and autotensioner in it as well, costs about £75.

mate, dont do this unless u know what ur doing, get a pro to do it for ya, the engine does not need to come out to do a cam belt, plenty of room to do it with the engine in. also get the rollers etc changed too.

may be a bit fiddly, done it on my td and that takes up even more room, you have to remove a few bits but it would save a lot of money from the dealers.

Remove the airbox matty and you should have plenty of room. Just get a haynes so you put it on right. Get a different pre-tensioner from Autovaux, since the standard GM jobbie is pants.

Yes the parts are guaranteed but the GM cambelt pre-tensioners are made from plastic and prone to snapping catastrophically. A metal item from Autovaux ensures that your engine isnt buggered up should anything give way.

Parts are gauarneteed but labour isn't. If you fit it yourself you would have to prove its the part at fault and not the workmanship. Personally, If I wasn't 100% confident in doing this I would let somewhere do it that will give you a guarentee.

my cam belt was £10 if you do it yourself the tensionser is incorporated with the water pump if you mess with it too much the pump will leak and u will need a new one. I left it to a garage as they had to replace my valves since the belt snapped whilst doing 70mph

tensioner is not incoporated in the waterpump in the 1.4/1.6 16v models.

if you get it done at vaux is guarenteed.
it aint much fun on 16v engine but make sure you replace tensioners and pulleys with gm parts... its expensive. but not as expensive as having to put a new head on.
