right i have a psg 2 wide arch kit
im getting 18s with coilovers
the wheels i want the highest off set they come in is 40, will this be ok?

not really but neither will 18's upto you though at the end of the day!

if worse comes to worse get spacers, but with the wide arch kit it should be ok, handling will suffer even more than usual though

spacers will make it worse mate, im worries that with et40 18" wheels and a 60mm drop it might catch the arches, even if it is the psg 2 wide arch kit, i surpose i couild allways get the wheels machined to say et45 if worse comes to worse
