This is yet another alloy wheels post. I'm looking to buy a set soon. Except I'm undecided about whcih to get.
I'm thinking 15" or 16" for my little 1.2 16v. Its a 5dr so I'm not gonna get 17"'s befoe anyone say so.
The alloys I'm looking at are:
Mastilay VT5R
7.0x15 (ET45) £449.95
7.0x16 (ET45) £593.50
(According to PVD's website they are available but i don't know how updated this site is)
Irmscher Soft Star 6.0x16" (ET49) £562.00
Irmscher Spectra Line 6.0x15" (ET49) £506.00
Or Kosei Swordz, but I've no idea at all where to buy these from in the UK.
What does everybody think? What wold suit my car and which would give me the best fit. I'm prepared to remove rear arch bolts but nothing else in terms of arch mods. And I want the option of having people in the back if I need to.
Any opinions welcome!

I love the VT5's but I've heard that there now discontinued and very hard to come by - does anyone know if this is true?
How about ET45 - hmm, 15 or 16?

Masitaly VT5R or the Kosei Swordz. The masitaly will look bigger cause the spokes go to the edge of the rim.The Kosei will look smaller but more euro style.15's or 16's you decide.

Hi Jamie (Valleyscorsa) that sounds like a really good deal. they look proper bo too.
I'd love to look at a set of Swordz, but can't find anywhere in the uk that sells them! Only pair ive ever seen here was on a Saxo. Only pair ive seen online was on Akeem's Corsa in Portugal.
I'd love 16" but fear I need ET49 for trouble free.
I'd get VT5's cos noone round here has alloys let alone them! and yeah, they push out right to the sides to 15's will look like 16's, 16s will look more like 17's kinda.
Still don't know.
Can anyone help with Swordz retailers?

ET 45 will be best for 16's m8.
U only want ET49 on a corsaif u have thin wheels 6.5" wide or less, else they will rub on the inside of your archs!
ET45 16's at a MAXIMUM width of 7" with 195/45/16 tyres WILL NOT RUB at all.
Mine are ET45 and 7.5" wide and with a full -40mm suspension kit they are fine at the front with 0 rubbing and just catch the plastic arch at the back, but the bodyshop are sorting that soon and said its only a small job anyhow.
Personally i love Dares new wheel range available here
http://www.street-racers.co.uk/racer_shop_dare_alloy_wheels.htm
for £525 in 16" with tyres
Hope this helps

Yes the dares are available ET45.
They shud be fine on a 5 door aswell, its just the wheel width thats the problem not the diameter so much as long as not bigger than 17.
If u stick to a width of 7" or less it will be perfect.
U notice how the Irmscher wheels which are ET49 are all 6" to avoid rubbing on inner archs!!!
If u really want to be safe try to find a set of 6.5" x 16" alloys then u cant have any rubbing trouble!!
In my opinion i wud deffo get 16's not 15's as they do look soo much better! My m8 has 15's on a corsa and they look small my 16's look right and 17's look too big without a kit in my opinion!

from my experience:
et 42 15's x 6.5 " lowered 35mm can be put on but you need to bond the archs on and knock the metal out.
et 45 16's x 7.0 " lowered 35mm, same needs doing as for the 15's plus you need to limit the rear sus travel as they rub on the inner arch, however i should think that et 49 would be better and may not hit the inner arch atall so u may not need the bump stops.
never had trouble at the front even with 17's lowered 60mm.

That price for the soft star with tyres? If so that seems a really good price, as they usually go for that same amounts as speedlines second hand. Really suit the car too. See Ed Renshaws for an example

Thats not including tyres. Tyres would be an extra £170 for Toyo Proxies from mytyres.net.
Has anyone got any pics of Ed Ranshaws car?

Also remember that the price of the Irmscher ones is just for the wheels and no tyres, whereas the price for the MAsitaly's from PVD include tyres.
