I'm 99% sure you should leave it as it is, its an offence to wind back the clock for any reason. However, you can add a note to the history of the car saying the engine was fitted at xxx ammount of miles.

Dunno, its all a pretty grey area with actual recorded mileages etc.
When I fitted the digi dash I put the mileage on that to read the same as what was on the Corsa clocks.
If there is a big difference in the recorded mileage and that shown on previous MOT's and service history, it might be a bit difficult when you want to sell/trade it unless you have verification of the mileage change.

so what would happen if you had a smash and everything got fcuked during it, except the clocks and the gearnob, and the chassis and you decided to rebuild the whole car would you still have to keep the clocks the same if you bougt all new parts?? would never happen but what if it did?

Plus it would be an insurance write off. If you re built it with the majority of parts not being original, I think you would need to re register it with a Q plate (don't quote me though)

So if I change the engine and the clocks for a Stack unit, I should set the recorded mileage on the Stack unit to read the mileage of the original engine??
Also...
Would this be easier to setup than an electronic speedo+C20XE??
1997 Corsa with electronic speedo
+ C20XE conversion (mechanical speedo)
+ Dash conversion (mechanical speedo)
Just a thought...

Thats a difficult one, probably best to seek expert advice. Its best to have authorised documents to state when the engine/clocks were changed and why. Its ok while you own it, but come sale time, its going to be difficult to explain why the mileage don't tally up with old MOT's, service history etc.
Sorry, this is no help really.
