Do i need a cat on the exhaust come MOT time ?

Ive been told a few different things including, yes cos it goes off the age of the car, 1997 Corsa (from vaux garage), no cos the age of the donor car, no cos the MOT tester cant match the car to the engine so they do a pre-cat test

can any one tell me for sure please, thanks

C20XE fitted cars wasnt required to have a cat, so neither does your corsa.

A pre cat age engine wont need a cat come MOT time.

Mine didn't need to have CAT. MOT Tester tried to say it goes off age of car but I corrected him it actually goes off age of Engine. He said ok and passed it.

but the vauxhall garage said it goes off the age of the car, ive had all my other MOTs there as its the only garage i trust round here (when i took it to a cheaper place they ripped the front bumper off ragging the car off the ramp )

Its quite important as i should get the car back wed (ive got everything crossed this time Lee ) and power flow want another £40 for a decat pipe!!!

My car just passed its MOT last week and there were no problems with the emissions.
