Hey im 17 (passed for a week!! lol) i got a corsa b 1.2 8v. Its so god dam slow!!!!(i got beaten by a girl in a KA!!!! FFS!!!) I have been quoted 1420 by liverpool victoria thats with my alloys and exhaust which dont seem to bad and plus i can do any modz i like as long as there not engine mods! but if i wanted to put a 1.6 in it they won insure me(let alone a 2.0l) how old do i really have to be to put a 1.6 or 2.0 in?? :'( Where else can i try for really good modified car insurance?
Cheers Rich

Depends how rich you are. I'm 19 n I know i couldn't afford the insurance for a 1.6 yet. Gotta get some ncb first. I think £1420 may be a bit high for a 1.2 8v, not sure tho. Depends on where you live too. You could try HIC and CIS, CIS might be expensive tho. Hope that helps

I'd recommend that you learn to walk before you run - so to speak

If you only passed a week ago a 1.2 8v is fine for now
You won't appreciate the power in a bigger engine till you know how to get the most out of your current one!

Just paid £609 for mine, 22, 3 yrs NCB, Fully Comp 1998 1.6 Sport, 'cause I've had the Priviledge!!!
Agree though, my bro had a 1.6 Sport also at 18, had it 3 months before he ran into back of someone.
1.6 fair enough, but even considering a 2.0 at 17 you must be greasing your hole up ready for Mr Insurance to come along and aim for penetration!!

You could try Vauxhall themselves they came out cheapest for me, 23yr with 1yr NCB, 1.2 corsa c sxi with all mods listed ie bodykit, zorst, induction kit.
Fully comp just under £400.00 but a very high excess around £600!

hey,
I've been driving round in a corsa C 1.2 for a year now on my mams insurance. Im now only a few months off being 20 and my dad bought me a 1.6 Corsa B Sport thinking i can easily get the insurance.....wrong
I've had the car 2 months now and its just sitting waiting for me to get insured. Its a right bitch not being able to drive it! Cheapest quote i got was £1250 TPFT and that was with no NCB
i tried Elephant.co.uk for an instant quote on my 1.6 and came bak £1400 TPFT and £7600 FC
i couldnt believe this difference, out of interest, i tryed for a quote on a new seat leon 2litre SX with the exact same details as i used for my corsa and it braught up a fully comp coverage for a year being only £1700
surely enought theres something not right here, anyway, just goes to show what cars are labled as a boyracers car and what arent by insurers
if i were you mate, your 17, just stay with your 1.2 for as long as you can and if you havent already, get your own insurance started ASAP, you think your saving money now on your parents insurance but in the long run your not.
get ya No Claims built up laddy then whap in your 1.6 or 2.0litre - wish i did
wish you the best of luck with your insurance matey
