It's obviously ADSL in which case yeah, once the line has been activated, as long as you've set the modem, etc up then you're away

Um, I wouldn't have thought so now as they've sent you that activation notice.
If it was me, I'd get the modem and the connection all set up and ready to go, then you can keep testing it on the activation day until it works

Not BT then Ian? Last 3 site's I've installed DSL routers on BT have either ballsed up the activation dates altogether, or done it at 4:30ish in the afternoon

You should have a username and password, and probably DNS server addresses.

Munchie - did Virgin not supply you with a set-up CD or anything because ADSL still needs a 'normal' dial-up networking connection, it just works in a slightly different way - I'd imagine a set-up CD would sort most of this for you.

Mines got red green and yellow LED's
Red for power, green flashes when trying to connect, stays green once connected (line activated) and yellow for data transmission.

dont know how many people this applies to, but for some reason my router suddenly stopped being able to connect to the BT DNS servers, so i had to go to each PC and put the pair 213.120.62.97 and blah blah blah.98 into the settings and all worked. Prob wont apply, but thought id mention it just in case!

is the modem properly installed? you should be able to go to DUN, create a new connection with the phone number, username and password given, then select your ADSL "modem" from a drop down box.
