Guys,
My car has been with vauxhall now for the past week, they found a huge mechanical fault with the gear box and clutch and have had to replace it.
They say there is not a single spare clutch plate in the country for a 1.2 sxi
Can anyone verify this?? Also what is the legal age for a courtesy car, as i think this problem will end up in court
cheers guys

Yeh we checked their policy and found a glitch that they dont have no legal writing saying 21 is the allocated age for courtesey as if i was 18 they would have given me one, basically im trying to see if my Vauxhall garage is trying to stuff me and my family over.
cheers broster every little helps here matey.

i had a corsa c courtesy car when they first came out, it was Y reg with 200 miles on the clock. I would have been 18 I think, Im 20 now so how long ago did Y reg come out? That was with the vaux dealers body shop though.
A week isn't really that long in the world of dealerships changing gearboxes and the like......

A week to change gearbox and clutch, assuming parts are available straight swap takes a day max.
Would be very suprised if they cant get a clutch for a week.
Just ring another dealer doesnt need to be local ask for parts then ask for price and availablilty for a clutch kit and give them your vehicle details.

The thing is guys im under full warranty with them so i have to go through them what ever happens, this means the parts replaced have to be vauxhall approved and that. The things is they said the car would be ready the day after they found the problem and well that was friday. Over the matter of principle, my school being 20miles away and me driving 70miles on average a day means life without a car has been hell. cheers for all the help though guys.

im 18 and when my car went into vaux they gave me a car for the day!
I had to sign some piece of paper just saying that between 18-20 you only get £650 worth of claims then anything after that u have to pay but if ya 21 + u get it all
I was fine as i only wanted it to take me home

SXIBOYO, Last year I had to take my cs into Dixon Vauxhall in Hull for repairs under warrenty. The first time I got a corsa-c courtesy car and the second time they wouldnt give me anything and I had to walk home Depends what mood u catch them in I think... or whether the big boss is on site!!
My fella had gearbox problems and needed a replacement for his 1.6 16v cs, vauxhall quoted him £2k just for the gearbox, then £40 (+VAT) an hour for labour. He went to a local garage in Hull who got him a reconditioned gearbox and fitted it for less than £300. If you want an honest opinion on what the score is with ur car then call him and see what he thinks, the garage is Scotch Corner in Hull and i think the guys name is Jim (dont hold me to that tho) 01482 585604 he might be able to tell u what u should be paying for a clutch plate cos vauxhall tried ripping us off too.
Hope this helps

His car is being done under warranty, he don't have to pay anything at all.
Get your Dad to go and pick up the Coutesy car, and its covered on your insurance so whoever is covered to drive your car is covered to drive the courtesy car

the stolen bit is more than likely a pile of porkies from the garage. Just need to contact the local police to verify that
