one of my mates has blown up his 1.4 16v how diffrent is the 1.6 16v as he doesn't want to mess about changing the mounts any help would be gr8

do the mounts defo need changin?

i thought they where the same block, just different bore/stroke

Same block, rods, crank IIRC. Gearbox is the same, head is good as the same. Depending on how 'blown up' it is, he could just swap the bottom ends. Would need the 1.6 ecu as well..

MIles is correct, differences betweent eh two are the bottom end. Hence u might as well just buy a 2nd hand 1.6 16v as the cost of all the bottom end parts will total to around the cost of a whole engine.

thats a contradiction considering miles just said the blocks are the same
