my missus mini needs some ice on a budget. As i see it there are 2 options.
1) - Sub, amp, box, cables etc. package for between £100 and £150. Theres a few about, not many tho!
And then some decent 13 or 17cm speakers up front say £50.
2) - Again some decent 13 or 17cm up front. But this time with the bass coming from some 6x9s say £70 with an amp say another 70quid.
In short which is the best option and any recommendations for products? cheers.

Is this a new or old shape mini??
Cos its pretty hard to get any "good" sound from an old mini. The new ones are OK.
Oh and i would say to save up a bit of £££ before doing your ICE.

old mini. dont want anything spectacular, just a decent sounding system that can take it turned up a bit. Fort a bit of bass mite be funni in a mini watch the car shake.

True corb true......
Dont anyone take this personally BUT.
Lots of people as comming on here and saying they want a "supe loud fantastic system for £230 "
This aint gonna happen, and you will learn this when you go to shows etc...
Also a 10" active vibe aint the best thing since sliced ICE. (im not having a dig mate)

vibe subs are alright - the amps are complete wank tho i blew 2.
you aint gotta spend shit loads to get a good stereo. just buy the best tho.
all you need it
good h/u
good sub
2 good amps and
good front componants
that should make a good sound stage.
i spent bout 700 on mine i think
admitidly wont win any competitions but sounds good.
my m8 has got a competition ice and he spent just over 1.5k (not including head unit)
another m8 spend 5k on a stereo and it sounds rank. (hes got 6 6x9's behind the subs)

thats why i didnt reply steve, I'm not as diplomatically worded as yourself. If I had of answered before you(I decided to keep my mouth shut to prevent another argument!) then there would be WW III about to kick off in here
Wayne, your mate who's spent 5K is stupid! People spend that amount of money on shit, and skimp on the important bits, electrical charging system, alternators, batteries etc. Doing an SQ winning system can be done at not a great deal of expense, easier than an SPL build on a budget, i reckon. TOMAS will probably want to 'discuss' this one further!

persoanlly get a nice small 10" sub in a little box with a little amp. Cant go wrong really, plus its a mini so it aint the biggest thing in the world.
As for the head unit i would get the best you can afford, since this sorta thing you move between cars, plus if ya suppling a good clean signal to the amps then it will give a better sound even if the amp/subs arnt exactly contest winning gear
Personally mate, i would spend the cash on the head unit and front components. Then if ya worrying about bass, wack in some 6x9s or something in the back. That way it leaves the boot for all of the shopping she does
