would you prefer a 1.6 sport with
diblas inlet manifold
zorst manifold (de-cat zorst also)
unichip
race cams
uprated leads & plugs
carbon airbox
cost.....£1600 (approx)
yeah sorry that price includes V6 brakes, suspension, and a few other nice bits and bobs...also a face-lift kit that cossvaux do (painted engine bay, rocker cover, pipes etc etc)
.....or a 2.0 conversion
cost.....£3500 (approx)

I would say a 1.6 on throttle bodies, but thats not listed.
Dbalis stuff is ok, but given the spec u've listed, i'd much rather have a 2.0 16v. Well, i have, but uknow what i mean.
And ya, LM styling = Good conversion

Same can be said about driving a standard Corsa with tb's....
So I dont know if he thinks the handling and brakes will be spot on if he doesn't change the engine.

£2k upwards really, that will give you about 160bhp, if you spend more you can have more power with other bits...

why would you guys rather a 1.6 with throttle bodies over a 2.0. Surely the 2.0 is cheaper and more torquier? i take it the 1.6 gives better handling?

keep the car light weight, add bhp, bingo! fast as fook car. Now what u guys are forgetting is that bhp isnt everything! you put a mark2 1.6 escort with throttle bodies up against a 2.0litre, modd'd also, i know which will kik the shit out of which
you want big bhp, buy a jap car, you want nible, fast, light handling, mod ya 1.6 - remember, you aint gonna use ya speed too much on motorways, where big bhp comes into effect; gear your 1.6 up for sprinting like a mark2 escort and your sorted. garenteed to f**k a few people off at the lights in they're merc's and BM's.
its all about personal preferance. Me - i'd stay with the 1.6 but, i suppose it is a cheaper and easier option to just drop in an old 60,000 - 90,000 odd mile 2.0litre engine in there.

I spent a bout 2k on mine for the engine conv. As well as the 2.0 16v sourced and fitted i got coilovers, rear discs and GTE brakes up front. A stock 2.0 will still produce more torque that a 160 bhp 1.6 i think
