it makes its sound raspy thats all

you just need a metal sleeve/sheath, that fits over the piece that you cut out and is held in place with exhaust clamps

in short yeah

u need to cut a couple of slits in either end of the sleeve so it forms a complete close when tightened with the bracket

I did the same thing, cut the centre silencer out, measured up a new bit of pipe with a slightly larger bore. cut two slits down each side, clamped it to the zorst, then filled all the gaps with gumgum. works well and cost ni on fcuk all. doesnt make a hell of a lot of difference to the sound a lil bit louder but not unbearable.

as a general rule with exhaust builders tho is that when joining pipes without flanges is to flare the pipe that is 'down stream' of the join and not the other way around. this is so that the smaller pipe fits into the larger one and not the larger one over the smaller one.

nah, he just means that most exhaust pieces will only have a slit at one end. so that one piece will always slot into the other

your still fine though if it has splits at each end, your will jsut slot over both ends

i have one on my car that has the slits on both ends

on the 1.2 if you cut the pipe directly in front of the silencer and directly behind, it will give you enough straight pipe to clamp to, wont need to worry bout the bends. you gotta overlap by about 2 inches each end as to get a decent join. ill try and get some pics later tonight.

Aaaah i just read the thread completely, you want the cat out, there aint much point, it dont give much sound difference if you still got the original silencer in, and it doesnt change the performance much. just cut the silencer out and leave the cat where it is its more hassle than its worth.go straight through from the cat to the backbox and get a decent back box and you will get a nice sound.
