Right i have a corsa c sxi.
Would it be best if i got a pannel filter and drill my airbox
Or just get an induction kit?
Btw when u drill the airbox how big does the diameter roughly have to be and how many holes do u drill?
Thanks

Hows about just 'air filter' as an option?
I don't think there are enough people on here with 100% certain knowledge of which is the best option to go for.

I've drilled mine and put a K&N filter in it. It gives a nice roar just like an induction kit, without the flat spots.

I put an induction kit on sounded mental. But messed up performance wen i put the drilled airbox back on it felt so much more responsive its much betta

if u want sound drill it
if u want performance i suggest a decent panal filter and a good cold air feed to ure airbox
if u want both then induction kit also with good cold air feed

An induction kit is a gr8 idea but Its a MUST to get a cold air feed to it as they are prone to suckin in hot air from the engine.

do u have any proff to back up that claim?
its allready been proven on here that a drilled air box and aftermarket filter gives more power than just an induction kit

What about a panel filter and...
...instead of drilling the air box taking the plastic bit out of the middle of the air box and replacing the manifold warm air feed with a cold air feed?

but is replacing the feed from the manifold and taking the little palstic bit out of the middle of the box the best way to go about it? (that what I meant )

ive not got the OE air feed from the grill, never did
taking the middle bit out of the box dosent do all that much, because the only air to get into it still is the small hole at the front, hense the reason for drilling holes in it to let more air through

On the models with an air feed from the front of the box to near the bonnet catch, removing that and simply putting a piece of ducting pipe (like convoluted grey washer pipe) and cable tie the end to the grille 6 inches or so in front of the airbox itself. Then replace the element with a panel filter like Jetex or K&N (cotton gauze) but watch it if you leave it in for a major service in case they throw it away or steal it. Put the paper one back in.
If you dont mind the noise drilling the airbox whilst only giving a small gain, does help with the breathing when you mod further (like a manifold) and it also changed the torque characteristic sof the engine making it pull at lower rpm. Just remember to reset the ECU.
From experience the three airbox mods give about 5-6bhp at the wheels.
Induction kits are liked by some, disdained by others as some suck too much hot air, bad for power.
Like you may have noticed your car goes better when its cold or cold, damp, foggy, the best scenario, a colder denser air. By adding a cold air intake you are getting towards this situ as you are getting cooler air.
The difference in peak power between ambient temperature alone changing by 5 degs C can be like 5-6 %. (on some engines).
Fitting an induction kit can mean it draws hot air frome the engine bay, even with a cold air duct and this is why some help and some don't.
On my old Zetec S, I lost 4 bhp wheels with a K&n induction kit.

take the clip on bit off the bottom of the airbox and run 2 cold air feed upto it, also cut out teh plastic supports inside as they restrict the flow, no need to drill then.

^ Thats what I'll be doing
- cold air feed duct to replace the plastic one to the grille, remove the internal plastics in the air box and a nice panel filter inside.
Im not gonna drill mine.

i wouldn't spend £40 for a panal filter to get 1 to 2 bhp out of a 1.2 waste of money
