basically its just the studs for the inlet manifold that are stopping the head coming off, i think....

do these studs come out of the head?? i.e.... with a big grip... then just buy new studs

you put one nut on then another on top then lock them together and unwind the stud out.

you only need to get half a thread on the second one, just enough to lock them together, then the stud twists out.
I suggestyou buy yourself some M8 allen blots, just get the right length, abotu £5 for 30 from RS, then just bolt the inlet straight on next time, easier, but be carefull of the head when you tighten them up, copper grease. that's what I've done so I can get the TB's off the 1.4 16V in corsa I maintain.

Are you putting bodies on your engin enow Adam, cause we're about to do a 2L TB's engine in to a corsa and I think DTH or taper bodies have to be used because of the space confiments, do you have any gen??

I have a 2.1 i'll be putting TB's on (QED's direct to head ones... less space needed, but heard diff stories about there performance)

Im just playing with this engine to see what i did to it that day at knockhill It will eventually be going into a nova once rebuilt

Yeah that's what he's ordering, because he's got parallel at the mo, but even with a good angled manifold I don't think it will fit.
His is gonna be just on tb's for this track season cause I think it will fast enough till he gets used to it.

Damn Birds
can't you lift the head off with the manifold still on then, sounds a lot simpler then, just undo fuel rail and Tb cable, loom, and huwzzaa, head off?? or are corsa's tighter than a nun with a 20XE in??

Have you checked the that all the coolent and breather hoses are off? It makes it easier if you pull all the head bolts out as well if you haven't done so.

It needs to come off fairly square so as there are dowls holding it the right place that it needs to come off. Be careful not so score the bottom of the head on anything as well.
