it isnt hard to change the belt just get a haynes manual and follow it

What condtion is it in and £££ might be easier to just drop 1.4/1.6 in rather than strip it and re build.

Oh if you want to check if the valves are bent. Remove the cambelt cover (3 bolts), get a spanner on the camshaft pulley think its 17mm, and try to turn it over. Dont be soft, give it an arm full. If it won't budge either way, then there is obviously something busted. It doesn't matter that your turning the cams and not the pistons, cos there is clearance for the valves when the engine isn't running.

when mine went i had music on and thought the car just cut out so turned it over a few times (doh!!) but that only bent 3 valves, but if u didnt try turnin it over after they shouldnt be bent...

im sellin my 1.2 8v in a couple of weeks... its got a 1.3 head, and its a tidy engine..

exactly! Just stick a new belt on, don't cost much to try it, if its knackered then think about what to do, if its not then theres no problems!!! Just make sure you line everything up first

Mine went a couple of years ago.

was down a little country lane was like shit. ended up pushing it on myown for about 3miles!

Then got it towed

Took to a garage and they said i was lucky, didn't do any damage.

A bit hit or miss really

Matey if its any use I can get you a LOT of parts at trade from Vauxhall in Nottingham. I can even get whole new guarenteed vauxhall reconditioned engines on an exchange basis, or surcharge of £250+vat for 8V lumps or £500+ vat for 16V lumps...

Its £585+vat on exchange for a c12nz or c14nz lump. Gimme a shout chap if your interested.
