Standard one isn't bad. Out of those get what ever is the cheapest. Whatever one of those you get keep it clean/well oiled.

Well K & N is about the best, but as someone said above they are all about the same that is apart from the standard one.
The only other problem in fitting one is getting more cold air to it too make it work better.
Its ok changing the filter but to get any real gain from it you have to improve the cold air to it.

yeah running cold air into it is not a problem.
ive hacked the thing to bits to get it past the 20xe for start. if you look at the air box from the front of the car, the bottom of the airbox on the left hand side, i have taken away the sort of leaves/fly catch tank. i then ran a cold air feed to that part of the box, cold air feed ran in between wing and plastic inner arch. left hand side of air box is also away from the heat of the engine at the right hand side.

I used the original airbox in my 1.4 16v with two pipes for cold air and a K+N panel for quite a long time.
Ater reading a lot about cold air induction, I fitted a cheap (£35) induction from Race X oiled with K+N oil and 100mm inlect pipe, and it worked a treat for my surprise
No jerkiness, better response at the top end, and no noise at high revs because it's sealed
CDA and Viper induction really cost a fortune to get the same benefit...overpriced gear
