In a race which would be quicker?
A 1.6 16V Corsa with a 50bhp shot of NX Express
OR
A 2.0 16v beast??
Just out of interest?

2.0
the 1.6 will only get a short-burst with the NOS, plus will probably struggle with traction due to the power increase.

Traction shouldn't be a problem on the 1.6 if the nitrous is used progressively.
Get two bottles and it lasts longer

not everyone bothers tho with the progressive controller, they just want a 'Go Baby Go' button...

Depends on the conditions. On the 1/4 mile the 1.6 could easily give the 2.0 a suprise.
My 1.6 would give standardish 2.0's a spanking without n2o.

But its hardly fair to compare a 750kgs nova with a 175BHP 1.6 to a 900+kgs corsa with only 150 is it
Plus a 1.6 with 50BHp shot could make around 150bhp, and with the torqur to boot. with a progressive controller it would win the the strip because you can add the nos earlier in the revs that the engine normally starts to pull. Also worth mentioning that the 1.6 would weigh less and handle, brake better as a result.

max power figure yeah, it made that on some roolers, but it's got to be a dodgey reading, you'd need some pretty lumpy cams and forged pistons to get near that.

I agree that my power figure did seem very high. Although I do have the 1/4 times to back, and when challanged, the rolling road operator claimed its calibrated and genuine.
A load of other cars from the same rolling road made average or low figures.
It was weighed in at 810kg's at the same spec of my best run.
I'm very interested to see what other 1.6 Nova's do this year, although no one has done anything yet, Lee's still building his and ianofhills (decs old car) car has been broken
