my car has done 37,000 miles and is in for service next week.
i have been told to change my cambelt at this stage by various people however bloke at garage has quoted me £175 for the cam belt and tensioning kit and £40 for fitting - is this reasonable + anyway to avoid such cost.
means another month without me car lowered

the rpice you've said is about right if its from vaux, they quoted me £210 for cambelt and running gear on my old corsa but i got my local garage to do it instead for £150 using vaux parts

the only fiddly part is getting belt to sit on all the pulleys correctly and its not even that hard....
when u have it back together crank the engine over with your spanner a good few times and make sure all the marks line up and your sorted...

took me about an hour to do the cam belt, the pulleys, the tensioner and the water pump.... and 30 mins of that was spent chopping the feck out of the timing belt cover cos it wouldnt fit over the water pump they gave me...
it was the right water pump so i dunno wtf was wrong with it
Disclaimer: the engine was not in the car while the work was being carryed out
