ive smoothed some of the plastic interior parts i.e. the plastic covers inside the car where the wing mirror adjusters are and the speedo front cover part etc and ive done door handles. Ive sanded these down so they are smooth with no orange peel affect left on them. i tried applying primer to one of them but the primer doesnt seen to want stick very well.
Should the surface be really rough for the primer to stick or smooth?

Any advice would be most appreciated

hmmm make sure that the surfaces are perfectly clean before spraying... clean them with some meths

you dident need to sand but never mind

2 layers of Plastic primer
then
2 layers of High Built filler primer

Clean them, if you have ever used some sort of dash shine/matt spray there maybe be traces of silicone left which will cause the paint not to stick!

Plastic shouldn't be rough but the paint will stick better if you lightly sand before each coat!

its probally cos uv smoothed them too much u need a texture for the primer to adhere 2,rough it up wiv 600 grit then apply the paint in thin mist coats and gradually build it up

i'd say definatly traces of dash cleaner... scrub it in hot soapy water for a few mins or meths it, either way works ere!

yep bit of meths on it!, sand smooth then plastic primer, wait for it 2 dry, then do another coat plastic primer, then start on your colour primer, then on colour,
