Was talking to broster about this, he says that Velos Motorsport got good results from the X16XE when running C16XE cams in the engine, but he couldn't find any info on it & details were sketchy at best...
Seens as Velos are no more, I was wondering if anyone has had any info/experience on doing this?
Also, what is the main differences between the 2 cam sets, lift height/duration??
Thanks

think the exhaust cam was different, not sure there was much difference in the inlet cam.
stick the post on migweb, probs get a better response there.

I've got a set of C16XE cams kicking about, I'll be able to check the lift and duration of them and let you know.
and by "good results" do you mean gained 4bhp?

no im not sure what they helped, broster couldnt remember either...
I know 4bhp will be a bit 'optimistic' due to the difference also with the heads (port/valve sizes)

You've fitted bigger valves to an engine with valves that are already a bit big for it's output
Hey Paul, no worries, I'll do ones for my X14XE cams too, since I haven't got any X16 cams knocking about to test.
I stick it on excel and plot the graphs.

I was assuming they are, but you know assumptions are the mother of all ......
If you're lucky I'll have some pics you of a flowed head (GPR) on a CD for you look at of how to flow a head. I'm sure there's some knocking about.

i had the 'wrong' cams in my x14xe.... the were lumpy as fuck, bitch to idle (raised to to 1050rpm to get round that )
but by fuck did it have a punch at 3.5k wiped the floor with 1.4 16v with the 'proper' cams...
this was due to a mistake by piper... wasnt till after that i noticed they were non ecotec cams

INTAKE EXHAUST
clearance [cl] 0.00mm 0.00mm
duration [0.1mm+cl] 241° 241°
duration [1.0mm+cl] 199° 199°
valve lift [cl=0] 8.45mm 8.45mm
Right this is the info I have for the std "X" cams so I will see if the cams I have from a C16XE are any different to the above.
But you can see how mild the std cams are, explains the poor std power that vaux inflicted on the engine. only 8.45mm and 240deg cams.
the redtops have 250 and 9.45mm.

c16xe's had cams with matching part numbers (i.e it wouldnt matter where you put each cam inlet or exhaust) strange this is tho that my old x14xe had matching cams in it when i fitted my piper ones, also when i re-built my mates astra x16xel that had the same matching cams which are normally found in c16xe's...
