If you mean wacking a adjustble thread on the bottom of a std damper, then bad plan, as you'll need adustables really.

when we are on the subject of coilovers, most ppl refer to any suspension system that contain coil springs as "coil overs" It is the case with the corsa that the front shocks are coilover type. As for the back suspension set up, as std they are not coil over setup. What work (or how much) is involved in coverting the rear shock to coil overs? i imagine it would'nt be simple as the rear beam is designed for the shock and spring to sit seperately. Just always wondered what was involoved to do this properly.

Coilovers refers to 2 1/4" springs on a damper unit.
To make the rear run coil overs you need to hack the turrets out and put isn omse stronger ones as they are nto deigned to take the full sus load as std.
Then you really shoudl move the moutnign point on the rear beam and beef it up some as it's also not designed to take the full load of the car.
It's really only important if you are serious on track or race, to allow you to croner weight the car correctly.

Well, there is more to them then having height adjustable spring platforms.
The cheapo ones like FK's have an oil damper... The proper ones will be presurised using a nitrogen charge in them. I don't think you oculd realisticly home make a set.

So i couldn't say take a nitrogen damper... weld on an adjustable platform :

and end up with a useable coilover set up

so basically if your not converting the rear to coilovers is there any real point in just having adjustable front shocks? would it not look silly.
