Wondering if anyone can help me!!
I was driving home from town yesterday and was about 2 mins from home, looked out my back window, and lots of smoke was coming from the back!!
I carried on driving for 50 yards and the smoke went!!
I got home and lifted the bonnet, and it was smoking a little bit and was very hot!! I checked oil levels and that was fine, checked water level and it was completely empty!! We tried to tip some water in, and it was just leaking out of the bottom!! I laid down, so i could see where it was coming from but couldnt really tell!!
With my first corsa, the car ran out of water and because i didnt know i carried on driving, and knackered the engine, and needed a new engine!! That time the car cut out, my car still starts fine so i ovbiously stopped before it got bad!!
I thought a stone or something might have skipped up from the road and made a hole in the water tank, but then again im no good with cars??
Any other suggestions??

Whilst engine is off carefully fill the water bottle keep filling till the water bottle is full to the top and your water system is full if its a gaping hole the water will piss out and it will be abvious if its only a small hole then it needs to be pressurised ie cap on filler bottle and engine running
this will help locate leak

well i looked under, and got my dad to tip water into the water tank!! it was coming out quite fast and quite a lot, you think il just need to replace the water tank??

whwere was the water coming from
some times the header tanks do split some times the pipe which goes into the cetre of the engine block splits thru heat and pressure

best thing to do if you think its the header tank is to take it off and have a look for any holes
it should have three pipes connected to it two on the top and one on the bottom

i wouldnt know how to take it off, im useless with cars!!
thats what i meant, i could see it was leaking but cunt see where from andwunt no what is was even if i could see where it was coming from!!
its due for mot in 1 week so im gunna stick it in this week and get it fixed!!
if it is the header tank, how much you think it will cost to repair, just so i know there not rippin me off??

Could be a few things, top the water up and run it in daylight, see if you can see any water dripping. Is it making any funny noises? or any other symptoms.

ive said, i tried topping water up but it just dripped str8 out of the bottom!?

bottom where though, front of engine back of engine? side? no-one on here can diagnose it without knowing where its coming from. Could be water pump, radiator, coolant hose somewhere. Could be lots of things.

it was a 3-4 inch slit in a bypass pipe!!?? is that bad??

just replace the pipe, fill it up, and then keep a good eye on it, make sure it doesn't lose anymore coolant.

ive taken it to the garage to get fixed as im having my mot done aswel, how much should it cost to get fixed?? jus so i no im not getin ripped off!!
