Ive done this job a few times before. The first time it was cos a my Nova had failed the MOT and the mechanic suggested to save a hell of a lot of work I do the following. Ive now done this on a few cars and they have lasted fine for the rest of my ownershit of the vehicles.
Cut old boot off and flush out as much of the old grease and any dirt that got in with a degreaser or the like.
Re-grease CV joint with proper grease(normally comes with boot kit). Split the new boot down its join with a scalpel and offer upto the cv joint. By doing a bit at a time and starting from the CV side use superglue to join the boot back up and then finish off with the cable ties/clips that hold it on either end.

You can actually buy kits that come split and are meant to be glued but they are more expensive.
Just get the normal ones and cut it yourself. Saves no-end of hassle and if your pretty handy it will only take an hour.
I was sceptical at first but the truth was in the results. Never had a problem with them.
