right rebuilding my PC before i sell it, i dont want to do just a normal format with the windows XP disc. Just wondered if there is any software out there that will complete wipe a hard disk and render the data unrecoverable?
Thanks.

Killdisk.
the free version will do a 1-pass
the full version will do a 8pass iirc
I've used it multiple times and should be burnt to a cd and boot from cd and follow instructions

Takes a long time doing the 25 pass or whatever if you really need it.
You've got no chance of getting anything back though, even with an electron microscope.
I doubt most people need that level of security though.
Unless you have the fbi after you the 1st or 2nd level should do the job.
