av got a plastic (black) inlet on but putting a new engine in but that one is metal so i want to swap over inlets is this easy?

why would you want to?

the c16xe (gsi) has plastic, the x16xe (usually sports) have the metal.

few bolts and couple of gaskets (dunno if you can do just the top half or if whole thing has to be done)

well as an aftermarket upper inlet for x16xe won't fit the c16xe without x16xe lower inlet... i guess you'll have to change the whole inlet.

=lots of work for little result

if the engine is a x16xe then use the metal manifold you will get no gains changing to the plastic one except for maybe a little more noise, the rattle of the cams are amplified by the plastic inlets, if its an x16xel then yes put it on as the xel manifold is more re-strictive...
